HI All,
my younger brother (23) has been out of work since early December due to depression. This is the first time (as far as I know) that he has had this and has been quite bad and seen his G.P. a couple of times for medication and advice etc.
He has now registered with the charity MIND and is waiting for a counselling appointment.
He has never signed on before and I said to him yesterday that he really needs to but I'm not sure what the process is.
As in he clearly is no where ready for work right now so jobseekers isn't really appropriate so what else is he entitled to?
Thanks very much in advance
Lisa

If he's unable to work due to illness then he should apply for Employment Support Allowance. The details can be found here:

He will need a note from his doctor stating he is too unwell to work.0 -
