Just downloaded it and it's got both my grandparents as registered owners, but my grandfather died 4 years ago.

It does not sound as if your grandfather's portion was ever transferred to uncle.

If this is joint tenancy, then they both owned the house, jointly and severally. This would mean that since your grandfather's death, the sole owner is grandmother.

I think they were advised by their solicitor to put it half in his name when my grandfather was taken ill with dementia. My uncle had no monetary interest in the house, as my grandparents bought it for cash when they retired.

All seems as though this is going to be very complicated!

You really do need a professional to look at all the paperwork and see exactly what's in your grandparents' wills, your uncle's will, any paperwork that was completed in relation to the house after your grandfather died and the house deeds.

You say the solicitor advised them to change the ownership of the house. Did he/she ever draw up paperwork and get it signed?
