John Lewis "FREE" guarantee

If there is an answer on this forum somewhere then I am sorry.
In the past, with buying TV's from John Lewis we have always price matched successfully stating that anything that is "Free" isn't included in the price of the product. So our last TV we price matched got the free 5 year guarantee and a free BluRay player all for the price that the TV was at Richer Sounds.
Now I understand that now John Lewis are getting tougher on this, but shouldn't the wording be changed from "Free" to "Included" as anything that is free cant be included within the price of the product.
So to match a MacBook Pro which I am considering purchasing, John Lewis offer a "Free" 2 year guarantee where as other places only offer 1 year. To match the price the "Free" guarantee shouldn't be taken into account.
I would accept this if John Lewis changed the wording to "Including 2 year guarantee"
Does this make sense?

When we bought a laptop from them they would not price match on the basis of their 2yr guarantee and they said it was not like for like. So good luck with this one.
Have you tried Costco(I know they do sell Mac but not sure which one) and they now also give a 2yr guarantee.
Some would say that these warranties are pointless anyway as something like a laptop mac etc would be covered under SOGA.0 -
They've been featuring this in Money Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/feb/05/john-lewis-never-knowingly-undersold?INTCMP=SRCHPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I understanding what you mean about their wording and changing one word makes the sentence sound completely different.
It was highlighted last month about John Lewis getting tougher on their policy for matching things but only "like for like." http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/shopping/2011/02/flaws-revealed-in-john-lewis-price-guarantee
I had this problem when trying to get a netbook on the same price before christmas. In the end I bought from somewhere else. The problem with apple products is that they tend to be the same price in all stores. If you could wait a few months and by this I mean November Apple do a Black Friday sale when their products have money off for one day only. That was when I got my MacBook Pro from John Lewis saving £90 and including two years guarantee.Wins in 2015

You can get discounts if you ask. We got a student discount through our son and my BIL got a discount just by asking for one. They also sometimes do offers, we got a free printer and ipod and one to one thrown in by the manager as well.
I think its the extra yr warranty the Op is interested in though.0 -
Well Dixons (not a lover of these big stores) are doing 10% off hardware at the moment, the MacBook Pro is included in this, and through Quidco you can get another 3% back.
Im guessing that Dixons will only be a years Guarantee?
Apples cover is great, have walked in the store many times with past products and no questions asked... but im still a bit unsure about buying from Dixons...0 -

Apple does the student discount. Not John Lewis.
You must had a really good manager on that day to get all those thrown in. I emailed JL stating how much I spent online with them for Christmas gifts and we are talking a lot and got nothing.Wins in 2015

Buy from Dixons and if there is a problem go to an Apple store. Do you live near one? My previous Mac I did that. Bought from JL but any problems I went to the Apple store who fix any issues.Wins in 2015

Sorry it was Apple I was talking about not John Lewis.I was responding to your comments about the price being the same in all stores. John Lewis will not give you anything as I said in my earlier post.
The printer and Ipod were Apple offers only the one to one was thrown in by the manager.0 -

But my problem with this is that it will only be 1 year guarantee.
With John Lewis' 2 years could I take it to the Apple Store after the first year, or would it have to go to John Lewis?0
