Child tax credits and Maternity pay

Hi Folks, My Partner was made redundant last year, two weeks into her maternity leave. Her employer was obligated to pay her SMP for the full 39 weeks. Today she has recieved her p45 as her smp has ended. What we would like to know is the affect of the Maternity pay on Child Tax Credits. On the p45 all her smp is included in the total earnings. I was under the impression that SMP after redundancy would be considered the same as Maternity Allowance available for the unemployed, and would therefore not affect our Child Tax Credit. I just want to clear this up before renewing our claim. Many thanks.
