Maintenance payments and tax credits

Silly question time. Are maintenance payments treated in the same way as any other income when it comes to tax credits? I am assuming it is. Is there a level you can recieve/earn before it effects your tax credit payments. Am not at all sure how it all works.

Any advice much appreciated.

Oh right I am surprised. How do I go about proving this money coming in every month is maintenance. Im thinking of contacting csa and getting it all set up as ex is very unreliable to say the least. Dont want money going in for a month or so then him changing his mind. Would I need to send them some official paperwork to prove it is maintenance?

They are interested in taxable income - this figure is found on your P60.
