Solar photovoltaic panel prices

i have been looking into the above. on all the websites i have looked at they just quote between £4k and £9k for an install depending on property. i wondered if anyone had any experience of these and could give a better indication of cost before i investigated it further.

i understand that the government give grants upto 50% as well but what is meant by upto 50% (is it normally 50% or more like 10)?

as a guide we use about 2800kWh/yr of electricity.

I don't know what your objectives are in fitting Solar photovoltaic panels, but even the most fervent advocate of alternative energy do not pretend they make any form of economic sense.

They even make solar thermal panels for hot water and wind turbines seem attractive, and in economic terms these are also a joke.
