I'm in the same situation....my council tax was handed over to the bayliffs as i paid a week late on the payment plan....the amount handed over was £303 inc the liabitilty order charge...
After the company claiming my postdated cheques didn't arrive i then had to set up an arrangement again.....i paid £200 and after paying i realised that the balance was alot more than it should be....i called the company where no one on 3 numbers could tell me the reason for the increase....the bayliff himself has only been once to drop a letter off....in between me paying and the bayliff calling back for the next payment a letter arrived threatening to take my stuff unless i apid now gwtting fed up with the situation i sent a cheque for the amount on the letter.....on monday the day the payment was due the bayliff called and i explained i had received this letter and had posted the payment, yesterday i received a letter saying unless i paid the debt would be handed back to the council who will get a priso order.....today my cheques was returned saying it did not cover the balance, but there is no balance on the letter it was returned with.....the funny thing is the letter it was returned with looks completly different to the others.....no address at the top no barcode and more inportantly no signature.....
please help what do i do now i'm being harrassed but they dont accept the payments when sent

Send the cheque(s) to the council and remind them, if necessary, of regulation 45 (3) of the Council Tax (Administration and Enforcement) Regulations 1992.0 -
Hi yes this is Equita....
i do own a vechicle its paid for....as far as i'm aware they have not done anytthing to secure it, does "levy goods" mean that they have been in a stated what they are taking...as no one has been in my home...
The cheque was for £111 as stated on the final notice and signed by the bayliff manager....
What is regulation 45 paragraph 3,
i'm really frightened i'll go to prison if i dont pay what they are now asking for....but i tried to pay the amount they requested....0 -
They are requesting £241.00 and after contacting the council today my debt to them is only £47.000
-
Forget about prison; that was never an option and the courts only send people who repeatedly refuse to pay large sums.
What is not in the least clear from your message is whether the bailiff has managed to levty on the car. Please type out exactly what was writtne on the letter. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
The letter that was sent with the cheque read as follows....
i have returned this cheque to you as £111 is not the balance that needs to be cleared and as such can not be accepted as full and final ettlement.
Please be advised that your file is being managed by our enforcement officer mr ******* and he must be contacted immediately on 079********* to negotiate payment of the outstanding amount.
yours sincerley....
This letter is the first one that is from a person rather than the bayliff manager .....its nor signed and looks very different to the others......almost like its been sent by someone else....
No they have not levied my car0 -
OK the liability order is for £303
you have made a payment of £200
what is the total amount you have paid to Eqita
With no levy on goods your total outstanding amount including bailiff fees should be
liability order £303
1st visit fee £24.50
2nd visit fee £18
total outstanding £327.53
Move your car away from your house/street nowI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites

I have paid £240.....0

Please get hold of a family memeber of someone else you trust with your life and "sell" that car for £1 and keep the receipt. You need not to own anything the bailiff can levy on without getting into the house. if he levies on it, not only does it make life difficult re the debt, it also allows them to start racking up the fees they are legally allowed to charge. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

ok and then what do i do?0
