This new laptop I have bought comes with Windows 7 installed but no disks, It also has a "one touch recovery button" if anyone knows what that is??? Can I backup Windows 7 from my laptop to a CD or DVD and if the answer is yes how can i do it.

The one touch button wil be to restore it to the original factory settings when you bought it from a hidden area of the hard disk.

Separately from that you can use Windows Backup in Win 7 to back up the way your computer is now to an external drive or DVD etc.

Go to Control Panel and select 'Backup and Restore'

That's a good idea. It gives two options: create a system image or create a system repair disc. Is the latter one the best and easiest just to back up Windows 7? (I have files backed up separately). How much space does this take? (is a CD enough or would it require a DVD?)

System repair disk is good to make for when your computer won't boot into Windows. It'll allow you to fix problems to get you back into Windows so you don't need to resort to restoring from your last backup. System image is good if you need to replace your disk or format it for some reason.

Any ideas how much space a system repair disc takes? I am looking at what disc size to order to save it onto.

I think it's only a couple of hundred megs and the idea is to create it as a bootable CD - the creation program will do all this for you, providing you have a blank CD.
