paying Tesco online

is anyone else having an issue with Tesco online. I usually pay my tesco mobile phone account by automatic money payment from my debit card. Unfortunately as a result of Fraud this had to be cancelled meaning that my payment could not be taken. My efforts to pay Tesco online either by my new debit or credit card have failed because of a "glitch" in the Tesco system that is currently preventing them taking payments online. They refuse to allow payment in store or by cheque. As a result Tesco will punish me for their failure as my phone service will be cancelled on the 7th March even though the Tesco system has been disabled for the last 6 days and I have endeavoured to pay online or by telephone every day. Is it me? The amount due is £40.

Can you not set up a direct debit instead of a card mandate?

This maybe because i think they use a system called Sage Pay which has been down since yesterday morning, might be wrong...

But having the same problems :(
  • It wasn't working for a few days, according to friends. Apparently, it is working now. Give it another try. Don't worry, it isn't just you.
  • unfortunately it does appear to be me. Tesco has declared that my debit card is now "too secure" and apparently the same applies to a Barclaycard and a Maestro that I hold. They are all in this conspiracy! The clear fact is that Tesco mobile themselves entered my address wrongly on their system (omitting my flat number) and no power on earth enables them to amend it although the system pretends to. As a special concession, after over 8 telephone calls, Tesco will allow me to purchase a top up voucher, phone its care service and apply this money to the debt. This was presented as something special! So, because Tesco CANNOT accept any of my cards I have to get a taxi to a phone store and buy a voucher! Perlease.
  • PS I cant pay off the debt because Tesco cannot accept my cards and will not accept a cheque or a payment over the counter. Any more bright ideas
  • Maybe go into branch and ask?

Edit Sorry nevermind, doesn't apply with Tesco.
  • Do they allow you to send a payment via BACS to them?

I know you could do this with Orange and think you still can...
    David :)
£1 of debt is too much for me!
