I need some help checking figures please!

Hi

Hoping someone has a minute to look at these for me.

I have been working out what I am entitled to next year for tax credits.
OH earns £11k working 30 hrs per week.
I have no earnings but get carers allowance at £2803 p.a.
2 x kids, 1 disabled with severe disability premium.

I have worked out our tax credits as:

WTC
Basic £1920
Couple £1950
30hr £790
CTC
Family £545
Child £2555
Disabled Child £2800
Severe Disability £1130
Total £11690

Total income £13802 - £6420 = £7382 x 41% = £3027 = entitlement of £8663 or £166.59 a week.

I have put my details into the "entitled to" website checker and also the one on direct.gov.uk. Bearing in mind these are for 2010/11 the results are:

Direct.gov.uk £260.26 a week (CTC £171.92 + WTC £88.34)
Entitled to £205.04 a week (CTC £171.92 + WTC £33.12)

Now this is a big difference to what I have worked out. Are these websites wrong or have I worked it out incorrectly?

Looks to me like you have missed off one of the child elements for CTC.

    I get...
    Elements: 1920 + 1950 + 750 + 545 + 2555 + 2555 + 2800 + 1130 = 14205
Reduction due to income = 3027

    Overall entitlement = 14205 - 3027 = 11178 = £215 pw

Ahhh, so we get an extra £2800 disability element. I thought this was instead of the £2555 child element.

£215 a week is about what I was expecting. Thanks so much lauzellen, I would have never worked that out myself.
