Tenants in Commom - Template Letters

Would anyone have a template letter for the setting-up of a tenants in common agreement between a married couple?

I understand that both couples write to each other and then send the signed letters to the Land Registry Office.

Does anyone have experience of this?

    Give the Land registry a ring and ask what they need. They are very helpful.

    I agree with BitterAndTwisted that you should take professional advice on the implications and practicalities of what you are doing. Land law is a complicated area and there can be serious consequences if you get it wrong.

  • I think you can complete the LR form SEV1 and send it to the Registry.

    You do need to think why you want to be tenants in common - there are a lot of misconceptions about what it achieves. Have you both made wills?

    Are you setting up a brand new agreement or changing the way you own the property?

    We changed the way we owned our house by using the DIY pack from this website - https://www.legal-zone.co.uk/sever_joint_tenancy_agreement

    If your property is registered with the Land Registry, you will also need to complete their forms.

    You should also review your wills.
  • Thank you for the replies so far, in answer:

    We have yet to make our new wills and are therefore just getting everything ready ahead of that task.

    This is just to change our current property.

    We will seek professional advise for the final arrangements.
