getting plans drawn up

hi all,
im thinking of adding a 2 storey extension to my property. ive been trying to figure out the most cost effective way of getting plans drawn up to submit for planning and then building regs.
the quotes ive had have all ended up in the £700-£1000 range for plans.
however ive found this place http://www.arkiplan.co.uk/ who seem cheaper and also say they liase with the council etc.
has anyone any knowledge on cheapest way to get plans sorted? or any dealings with the company above?

cheers kev

I've not had any dealings with them, but to me if a price is alot cheaper than the others then there must be a reason!

I commisioned an architectural draughtsman and it came to around £1,000 for the plans, submission to the Council and liaison with building control.

There's a lot to be said for having one point of contact for any queries that may arise.

Just submitted our plans for 2 storey extension was £450, had a few recommendations, this was my cheapest but I felt that the guy came across well as well. Extended another property years ago with a real "cheap" quote but on that occassion we got what we paid for!

    thanks so far guys.
got to say i have been in touch with the company and they seem pretty helpfull. on there site you can also see previous customers plans which all look very good.
from what i can gather the company uses technical drawerers (is that how you spell it?) rather than architechts.
ill do some more digging then make a decision.
