Hi there
Can someone help with a problem I have recently experienced?
Everytime I go to open a document - usually a word or pdf, photoshop automatically starts up to try and open it and then freezes as obviously its the wrong programme. Sometimes I can right click and use 'open with' for the right programme but today I am well and truly stuck. There is a link to a pdf file I want to open and each time photoshop opens and freezes, when i right click on the link there is no option to open with, it is getting very frustrating now
Thanks
YR

You don't say which version of Windows you are using but you can change the file association(what program loads which file) so that pdf's are opened by Acrobat Reader. In Windows 7 it is in Control Panel and default programs. Alternatively if you update Acrobat Reader to the latest version (10.0.1) it will probalby do this for you although you will still have to sort out Word.0

For XP proceed as follows. assuming you use Adobe Acrobat to read PDF files:
Open any folder on your hard drive
Select Tools> Folder options
Select the file types tab
Scroll down the list to PDF
You now have a choice
A) Hit Restore It should change the association back to Adobe Acrobat
Failing that hit Change
In the next window select Adobe Acrobat from the list and remeber to ensure that the Always use the selcted program to open this type of file box is checked.
Repeat for DOC files and Word
I'm working from memory here but I recall a big list of file types in photoshop options - I rememberer un-checking everything except Jpeg, Tiff and Raw.
I don't use Photoshop any more as Picasa does what I need - and it's free
