Sorry to put a rant here, but peeps have got to know what is just the thin end of a very large wedge..

Bought Tesco own brand Anti-Limescale tablets - the ones like Calgon etc.

Opened up the box, looked at the tablet (they come in packs of 40) and realised the tablet was smaller. I had a few left in my old box, got them to compare and blow me down, they looked like half the original tablet!! Weighed them - old=22gms, new=16gms almost a third difference.

The point I'm trying to make is that if they're doing it with this product (risking my washer's health BTW, I live in a hard water area), what other products are they 'slimming down'

They've already done this with 'Head and shoulders shampoo' (500 ml to 400ml) - I know this isn't Tesco's stuff, but they're taking the branded products' lead, selling less for more.

What can we do? We're being stiffed by Banks/Government and now Grocery stores that make billions in profit every year.
GRRRRR!

It makes my blood boil. I'll be taking these back for a refund and going somewhere else for decent quantities.

    What can we do?

What you can do is stop using the tablets and start using vinegar.

yep the tablets are total waste of money even at full size! The biggest thing you do is consider every purchase and whether its neccessary...

    No, not at all.

Yes, you put it in the tablet tray & then run a cycle.

I use it in my dishwasher too...Fill half a cup with vinegar, pop it on the top rack & run a cycle. (In an empty washer/dishwasher)

Good for limescale too, kettles etc. I also use it for my coffee machine.

The white distilled vinegar is the preferred one, but I still get good results with value malt vinegar.

PS. You can also use as a softener in your wash...still no smell.:)

In the mean time, write to Tesco and ask them if a reduction in the size of the tablet will mean a reduction in the cleaning qualities of the tablet. Or have they changed the constituents so that it is stronger and just as effective as before. That would be an interesting answer.
Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

Simply avoid going to Tesco again.

Supermarkets will never wither unless we stop obeying their rules. Stand strong and refuse to return.

Shop at your local retailers where the products will be cheaper and of better quality.
