yepppppp u need to get an nus extra card and it cost £10.000

nope, most places will except a card as long as it has NUS printed on it.
I only got an extra card this year for the amazon discount and having no end of trouble with getting it registered.
My advice dont waste your money on the card till you have tried without it!0 -
No. For most places you don't even need an NUS card. Just university ID.0

Hi all!
I think it's terrible that the NUS have decided to make students pay for the discount card. Surely they get enough from other companies alone. Endsleigh and the NUS are very cosy for example...!
Anyway, to my point. At my university, we have 2 cards. One is a membership card for the local union only (and a few discounts have been negotiated for that card, like the hair dresser's over the road from the uni!) However, many of the larger chains do not count this as student ID. Not even the local cinema (when they check!)
excepts the local ID card.
The thought of paying £10 scared me  , but being a moneysaver, I did some research. :money:
Although it's only a saving of £3, it's still a saving. I found the ISIC card. It's an international student identity card which is accepted by many shops (except HMV, but that doesn't bother me that much - I buy DVD/Cds online cheaper!) Even my fussy local cinema accepts it (odean - have checked their website!)
So, http://www.isiccard.com/ is the site i ordered mine from and it came within 5 days. http://www.isiccard.com/discounts_uk.asp lists some of the discounts in the UK.
The satisfaction of not giving the NUS that extra £3 was a good enough reason to ditch them! Maybe if enough people did, they'd re-think their idea.....0
