They charged you £110 for 3 lessons? Holy !!!! thats a lot of money! When I was learning to drive a few years ago it was about £15 a lesson? (1 hour)

£15 a lesson - good grief that is a lot.

Got 10 for just over that;)

I would threaten them with small claims court. Give them no more than 2 working days to get your money back, they have after all had 28 already.

I'd be tempted to do this as well....but...you have to be prepared to do it (and know how to - not too difficult)...and...your letter before action needs to give them a reasonable time (I usually give 14 days) to respond/pay.

I can fit into a 500 with reasonable comfort, and I'm an overweight 6'2".

If I can get comfortable, what are they feeding the examiners? Double parmos every lunch?

Thank you all so much for posting. The advice I wanted is what action he should take to get his money back? Should he write to BSM at their Head Office? He tried phoning, and visiting the local office, but he felt he was being fobbed off. I don't want to personally interfere as I feel he needs to do this himself. However I would like to say to him, you need to do A,B,C to get your cash back.

Get him to contact the DSA at the link that I provided in post #3, they will advise him on how to proceed.

They will not take kindly to a Driving Instructor ripping off a client, even if it is the BSM.

If you paid them before they went into administration, small claims court will be useless. All you will be able to do is submit a claim to the administrators and get in line as an unsecured creditor.

I would avoid BSM anyway, they structure their lessons to ensure you will need at least 45 hours of driving and their lessons are in 2 hour blocks thus making each lesson £50+

I paid £22 a lesson for far better quality tuition than most BSM instructors will provide. £15 isnt a lot today.

AA / Acromas bought them months ago so I'd not worry too much about being an "unsecured creditor".

This isnt true at all. All instructors are different, and plan lessons according to the students ability.
Sure, there may be instructors who like to rip people off, but this isnt restricted to BSM instructors.

2 hour lessons are beneficial to students. Here is an example from my experience -
Student has their first ever lesson and lives in city centre. These first lessons cannot take place there so instructor needs to drive them somewhere suitable, and back again at the end of the lesson.
in one hour they possibly could get 30 mins driving per hour. in a 2 hour lesson this could be 1.5 hours. This isnt nescesarily 1 lesson, it is 2 one hour lessons back to back
