permission for a cat in HA flat with a communal entrance

Evening all,
I am likely to be moving to a housing asociation property in a few weeks time. it is a first floor flat which has a communal door downstairs as the main entrance. I have a cat who stays indoors and sleeps most of the time as she is now quite old. There is no info on the HA website about cats.....only dogs. but having looked at other HA regs most say it is unlikely to be allowed to keep a cat/dog if you have a communal entrance. I cant see what harm an elderly cat would do, as she wont ever be going near the communal entrance. are they just likely to give me an outright NO! or will they take it into consideration. my daughter will be very upset if the cat cant come too. I can get a reference if thats the correct word, confirming cats age etc and "good behaviour"...ie doesnt do any damage etc.

If your pusscat is going to be an indoors babe and therefore won't need the communal door then no-one will know that you have her. If the LA website makes no mention of cats then you can be quite sure that there isn't a prohibition against keeping them.
In any case, in your position I'd make no formal requests and tell no-one I had her.0 -
I think I'd probably agree with B&T, but just remember that some housing officers will make 'settling in' visits so you'll want to make sure all evidence is hidden

Which HA is it? I work for one and I've never noticed any rules about properties with communal entrances. I know loads of people in flats who have cats.0
