Hi Climbgirl,
I agree with you, I know i'm renting from the bank. I was in a situation whereI had to move out and I intended to move out. But rent in this area is quite steep and it worked out that renting would cost as much as paying my mortgage.
I did pay a resonable deposit (never had birthday pressies growing up, just premium bonds), and the area I am in is next to a uni, college and airport so demand is high. I found out the people who moved in above me in July paid £14.5K more than me, its the exact same flat and I bought it only the year before.
I am planning to move to a repayment type mortgage when I have got my debts down (in apporx 2 years). I completely understand your point but everyones situation is different and I didn't go into this for the sake of having a property. This was the best option I had.
Thanks.£6,838.71 all on 0% CC, what a change!0 -
Yeah fair point, you do have to work on the debts first. But it is a horrendous mortgage and when you say the rent is higher in the area and you're better off paying a mortgage, you have to remember that you're not actually paying the mortgage....interest only isn't touching the actual capital mortgage at all.
Deal with the debts first of course, but that mortgage needs to be dealt with ASAP.0 -
Hello
I'm having a terrible moment of weakness. I want to get a piggy bank (a really cute one) online from totally-funky for £9.99 + delivery.
My intentions are good, i'm going to empty my purse into it every evening, but instead of using an old jam jar I want a really cute pig!
I really want it....I might cave any moment, someone save me!£6,838.71 all on 0% CC, what a change!0 -
Why not get it - it sounds like it will help you save money as you will be so keen to feed your cute pig. I reckon it's worth a few quid to have something that gives you a little bit of pleasure every time you use it.
I'm getting nice money boxes for my kids to get them into the money saving habit.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

GET ON PIGSBACK AND GET A CUTE ONE FOR FREE - YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH HE'S EATEN AS HE'S SEE THROUGH!!!!
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Have you looked at other places to sell, if the stuff is new? I sold a cd rom on amazon for a good price, when other new ones were only fetching a few pounds on ebay. It took longer, but was worth it in the end.Ebaying had not been going good, my brand new hobbs toaster didnt sell (it was a gift). Must be doing something wrong. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hello,
I just joined pigsback. The pig (which is cute but not as cute as I had my eye on) costs 350 points. I only have 150! And delivery is up to 14 days...
Ok ok enough excuses, i will buid up my points and until then I will use an old jam jar.
Woe is me. Goodbye sweet £9.99 pig, may we meet one day, when I am debt free...£6,838.71 all on 0% CC, what a change!0 -
Hello!
Good news, one of my many many books on greenmetropolis sold! Its a hardback so its bringing in £7! hopefully I can get free postage off work so it should be all profit!
Also, myself and my OH (who has started a debt free diary of his own) reduced our weekly shopping my half this week. We went to asda for the first time ever (it is in the next town, bout 10 min drive away) and spent under £31 for the both of us.
And I had an appraisal at work yesterday that went very well so everything workwise is looking positive for the new year. My boss did make clear though that I have to get one more CIMA exam done this year (its computer based, i can do it whenever I want). The place where I do the exam is holding the last exams this year on the 20th which means I have exactly one week. I am only on chapter 11 of 19!!!

Hello,
Was meant to have CIMA exam but it has been delayed till Jan 10th! Boo, i'd rather it was done as I have revised and it is all fresh.
Also, have put all the books on amazon now, as well as greenmetropolis.
In other news. OH, 6 friends and I are going on hol to Cape Town for a week in mid Jan. Flights we are getting on discount as a friend works in the airlines, and OH has kindly said he'll pay the £150 fare as my birthday pressie. So that leaves the villa we are hiring which is £44pppn. My cost therefore is ~ £320 which I will pay from my bonus (£500). I'll take £100 worth of rand and £100 in sterling. NO CARDS!
I havent convinced myself that this trip is a good idea yet. I mean, I love Cape Town, its stunning, the best place i've been, and I could do with a break but then who couldnt. Should I be spending this money on a hol???
This is a great holiday though, and i'll never be able to afford to go when my friend leaves the airline industry, so maybe I should see the world on the cheap while I can??
Have I convinced you...?£6,838.71 all on 0% CC, what a change!0
