E-on - switched electric in Sept but just got final bill today!

I've had a reminder bill, so I phoned E-on up and queried why it had taken so long to send a final bill out and they said they had been waiting for a final reading from British Gas. they asked how soon I could pay the bill, I said I wasn't sure as I now have to pay British Gas and if I pay what is owed in full to E-on then I will get in arrears with British Gas which I don't think is fair as it's not my fault that the final bill has taken five months to be sent out, so I said I would pay the final bill over the next five months, starting at the end of April, so E-on agreed and are going to send out payment slips.
But even if they had taken five days the sum it would have been for would have been exactly the same. Okay, they have now allowed you to pay it in instalments - but the length of time it took to finalise the bill is irrelevant - you would have had to ask for the same leniency regardless.0 -
it seems Eon have passed my debt onto UDS - Utility Debt Services.
even though there was an agreement in place for £9 month, the last payment made was on the 13th may, so therefore as far as I'm concerned the next payment is the 13th June.
I hope the rep from eon reads this, because I don't like the debt being passed on when as far as I'm concerned I'm paying it off monthly as agreed.
However now that Eon have now passed the debt on, I did tell them that as I have other creditors which are being dealt with by the Citizens advice, I will be contacting our advisor at the CAB and the debt will be dealt with in the same way and Eon/UDS will now receive £1 month in line with other creditors as we cannot treat one creditor more favourably than anyone else.
dirty tricks by Eon even though there was an agreement, and then Eon wonder why I wanted to leave them!__________________0 -
Hi Josie64,
I think something has gone wrong here, if you say you have set up an agreed payment arrangement to clear the balance with E.ON then the debt should not have been passed to a DCA.
I would advise you to contact E.ON and ask why the arrangement has been cancelled, you will have received the arrangement details in the post.

yes Helena,
there is something wrong here, now this morning I have a letter from UDS
INTENTION OF COURT ACTION
quote "we are concerned that you have not contacted our client despite previous requests for payment"
erm, if I have not contacted our client then how come I have a letter dated 18th march with a schedule of payments?
I have just phoned Eon up and it seems that when I made the payment of £10 on 13th may, because I did not phone them back to confirm I'd made the payment that is the reason it has been sent to UDS.
perhaps I should let it go to court and the judge can see just how Eon operate even when you make payments as agreed and maybe I should contact the financial ombudsman as well as I understand that threats of bailiffs cannot be made if you owe less than £750, if I am wrong in this then please feel free to correct me. the grand total of how much I owe is just £30!
I have also contacted British Gas and I will now be moving my gas account to them as well.
I have six neighbours who also have gas and electric with Eon and I will be talking to them about changing suppliers as well.__________________0 -
to Helena,
this is a copy of an e-mail I have just sent to Eon
..........................
regarding the previous electric account with you.
ref no – ************
In two days I have had two telephone calls and a letter stating the intention of court action. the message left this morning says to contact UDS urgently, this was AFTER I had telephone UDS earlier in the morning.
as far as I'm concerned there is an agreement in place for £10 month, the next payment for this account is on the 24th june as discussed with your advisor yesterday 26th may. I have asked UDS and Eon to take my telephone number off the database, if there are any more telephone calls, then this will be classed as harrassment on your part and further action will be taken.
.................
I have just contacted Consumer Direct regading this.__________________0 -
Hi Josie64,
To be honest with you this sounds like something is totally wrong here, for a balance of £30.
I think the payment arrangement you agreed to has not been set up properly, if it had the debt collection letters would have stopped.
If you send me your details to my email address in my profile page I will take a look at this.

As company representative shouldn't you have done this in the first place!
Lost count of the number of times you said something is wrong here then did nothing.
This tale of woe and yourself are not a very good advert for Eon, glad I'm not with you. Sounds like a shambles to me.0 -

Hello shaymenRup,
We are here to give advice to our E.ON customers on the forum, we try to point them in the right direction to help resolve their issues.
As this customer did not appear to be getting anywhere, I have offered to help myself, it is then up to the customer to contact me as we don't have a private message facility.
I can only help further if the customer contacts me directly.
