A weekend of culinary delights

The Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink, co-founded by two-starred Michelin chef Michael Caines, attracted more than 15,000 people in 2010 who flocked to the city to indulge in top-notch regional food and drink, see national TV celebrities cook up a storm and to relax in the beautiful grounds of Exeter Castle.
Now in its eighth year, the 2011 Festival offers something for everyone – from dedicated foodies to families. With day one of the festival coinciding with the Royal Wedding, it will be the ideal place to enjoy the big day, with food and drink fit for a king and to celebrate in style at the Festival After Dark wedding party. With the wedding being screened at the event, preparations are under way for an unforgettable royal celebration!
The Festival Cookery Theatre is a main attraction where food fans get to rub shoulders with their culinary heroes, picking up valuable tips in the process. With a host of top chefs taking part, some familiar faces will be clattering their pans, including Michael Caines MBE, Lesley Waters, Chris and James Tanner, Mitch Tonks, Peter Gorton, Mark Hix and Masterchef winner James Nathan, with more famous faces still to be confirmed.
The Darts Farm ‘Food is Fun’ will be hosting an exciting line-up of chefs, artisan food producers, culinary experts, workshops and hands-on activities for all the family.
Eat your way around the food pavilions, which play host to the region’s food and drink producers. Tickle your taste buds with new flavours as you enjoy the samples, stock up on delicious goodies to take home and chat to the people behind the produce. Visitors can enjoy a night out at the Festival After Dark events (on Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm-late) with live music and more delicious regional food and real ales. Friday’s event will be dedicated to celebrating the Royal Wedding so expect a huge party.
