Thanks to the two posters above me, was replying on my phone at the time so didn't see it.
Logging the calls and the names, might try and find a way to record them, just incase they lie about stopping the calls again.
Love that thread, woke my parents up from laughing at it when I read it lol. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
That would probably be fraud, and if you contacted him be liable to get you into trouble.
Also, if that's his real name you probably shouldn't put it on the internet (there's an edit button) especially in discussion about hi debt problems.
Note that if you don't know him, my malicious statement is obviously irrelevant. More likely is he has a phone number one digit away from yours (or similar).
No it wouldn't be fraud. There is no intent to defraud anyone of anything so no crime.0 -
Are your names at all similar? They could just be fishing which is not uncommon, when debts are approaching the legal statute especially. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

First name is similar, his is Kieran, mine is Kier, however surnames are completely different. What is pi? Where did it come from?0

Strange how they got your number then. Forgive me if you answered this already but is it a new number? Or have you had the number for a while?
You've been given some good advice on how to proceed already imo. Such as writing a letter (recorded delivery) telling them their records are incorrect and to remove your number/update their records to reflect this.
I understand how fustrating it is. I had a situation recently where the previousowner of my phone number owed money and they were calling me at all hours asking for this person - even after telling them that i had had the number for 1 year and had no connection to this person at all.
As not a lot of people have my landline number, it was easy for me to have my number changed. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I've had the number since November roughly, only given it out to friends and family, don't give it out to banks or when signing up to things etc.
I've been told that I've been removed from the file, but still got them, and nothing stopping someone else doing the same, which is why I want to find out the company they are acting on the behalf of, so I can contact them and find tell them about the mistake, so don't think writing will work for this.
Thinking of changing my mobile number, going to phone up T-Mobile and see if I can do it half way though a contact with them. Hopefully I can! What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
Finally found out which company they are acting on behalf of! Orange.
Just need to find out how to contact them to get my number taken off. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -
Its started up again! Two texts from two different companies saying I need to contact them quickly.
Phoned one of them up, asked them to pass the message on to whoever they are acting on behalf of that they've got the wrong number...but they say they can't due to data protection again.
Any ideas what to do? I'm not asking for the company name, but for them to pass the message on...I've even had them say they don't know who they are acting on behalf of before. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -

They sound like spam texts.. Dont call anything on your own behalf if they cant be bothered to call you and can only send a text then just ignore them. Or write a letter to them telling them to stop harrasing you.one of the famous 5

I have a personal number that only ever goes to voice mail and I get sent an email of the message as a .wav file.
I have for the past 2 weeks, every day and sometimes twice a day, been getting an email with a .wav file from 008000521505
these messages last from 4 to 10 seconds each time and in all the time I have been getting them they have been either silent or background chattering.
I of course just delete them. But if anyone recognises the number and wonders why they never ever get a reply then tough!
I did once get a person from SG give me their entire spiel until the message went over the voice mail limit.
I have come to a conclusion that people who work in these type of call centres are idiots.
So get yourself a personal voice to email number and give it out and never get another funny phone call again.0
