Hi All
My parents friends NIS subscription is about to expire.
Just wondering if anyone had spotted any good offers for the 3 user version.
Cheapest I have found is Tesco Direct. £25 ish. But out of stock.
Cheers
To avoid any more "useful" posts, I do not need recommendations for Free AV or alternatives to NIS. If I did that is what I would have asked for. (Sorry if this sounds rude - It is not my intention)
Just looking to save friends of the family a few £££'s on software they want, what they are used to & works for them.

As an IT Manager for 10 years I can honest say please please please don't renew it. There are far better products for free that don't grind your PC to a halt but still provide excellent protection. I find all you need is Microsoft Security Essentials or AVAST (not both) to keep a PC free from virus issues.
I usually download and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware every so often just for extra piece of mind as its great at finding the stuff that other scanners don't find.0 -
mse is memory hungry, this isn't

As above do the right thing and save yourself a few quid by using a free alternative.
(Avast is my recommendation too)0 -
I think they're both excellent, for me MSE is a lot less intrusive and simpler for someone who isn't tech savvy.0

Thank you all.
Worked as an IT consultant for 20 years and I half agree with what you are all saying.
The software isn't for me, it's what I have been asked for.
So not wishing to sound rude a simple answer to the original post would be greatfully received.0 -
You are asking on the wrong forum. As an IT consultant for 20 years you should have known this.
If someone asked for a raw meat dish wouldn't you point out the risk ?0 -

How effective the product is is a different question. And it's certainly not free. But again, how many free "Internet Security Suites" are available. Zero, is it?
I would normally go to Amazon, but NIS 2011 3-user, 1 year, there is £29.99.0 -
I wouldn't touch Norton with a 500 ft barge-pole// Ditto mcafee //////////BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Thank you all.
As mentioned the software is not for me. I have mentioned the alternatives, but what more can I do.
For all you doubting thomas' how many time do you find the item you need is cheaper via an informed forum than the best trade deals out there.
Think I will advise a purchase from Tesco, Amazon or Play all on line.
Finally my 2p. For the money and the average user the interface & support offered by Norton is second to none. There is no such thing as a free lunch anymore. You go for the free optionions and you are still left wondering if it's as good as xxxx and spending time running additional scans etc.
For less than £10 per computer per year. Worth more thank that for the piece of mind it brings.0
