Alliance & Leicester Fixed Rate Bond Maturity "meeting"
Well mine finally matured (having done the visit & completed the forms for an external transfer) - called in to see when I could expect the money (having no faith in Santander to get it right) - 5 working days!!! Never had a BACS xfer that took longer then 3 days - deliberate policy to hang on to our dosh for a few extra days me thinks.
I liken it to an off license or supermarket. If the checkout operators were required to check your ID before selling you a can of beer even though you were '70 if you were a day', they would lose customers overnight because nobody would accept that this was 'normal' or 'necessary' or 'desirable' or indeed common sense.
It's probably coming anyway. At my local Co-op they play a recording with a horrible threatening voice saying that if you look under 25 you will be asked for ID. Regardless of the apparent age of the customer they write every sale of alcohol down in a book with the assistant's estimate of the customer's age. On the infrequent occasions I buy alcohol in there I flash my bus pass just to wind them up. The legal age for buying alcohol is still 18. This is getting ridiculous.
Has anyone received their 2010-2011 Tax Certificate for this matured fixed rate bond yet? I've got the certificates for all my other existing Santander accounts but not this one and was wondering perhaps it was lost in the post.
