I’m looking for any help or advise you could give.
My cousin has 2 cats, which she has had for a number of years. She has recently been made homeless and while waiting for a council house she has been moved into temporary accommodation. While she is living there she’s isn’t allowed any pets. I have recently taken her cats in to stay with me but as I only live in a small flat and already have 2 cats I can’t keep them for a long period of time. It could take up to 2 years before the council can give her a house/flat. She has asked friends & family if they could take her cats while she waits for a house but nobody can help her out. At the moment the only option she has is to give her cats up, which she doesn’t want to do. She can’t afford to put these cats into a cattery either.
Can you help at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try on Catchat or Purrs, the are people there who can help as they deal directly with rehoming/fostering.

What a horrible situation for your cousin, she must be so upset about her cats.
It's a shame no-one in the family can help as that way she could still see them as much as she wanted.
But, much as this sounds harsh, it might be better to look at permanent rehoming if she's looking at possibly 2 years before getting a house/flat - I don't think it would be fair to the cats or whoever looks after them for that length of time to then take them back again, sorry.0 -
your cousin will not find it easy to secure a rescue place either, if no fosterers can be found, such is the pressure on most rescues at the moment
has she tried approaching the landlord of her current rental to explain her situation, and to offer to compensate him/her for any damage done by her cats? perhaps you could offer the same indemnity if he/she does not trust your cousin's financial ability to make good such an offer
blanket bans on pets are common in the rental market, but that does not mean exceptions cannot be made0 -
Thank-you for your reply.
All has ended well. My cousin has spoken to her housing officer and she has been allowed to take her cats to her new home. They left this evening and i'm glad to have my spare room back!!
Thanks again x:Tx0 -

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0
