Cheap text Messages to ireland - help!

I’m after some help - please be gentle with me as this is the first time I have ever posted lol!

I have family that have moved to Ireland (Dublin) and I’ve been texting them. Even with taking an O2 bolt on to get reduced cost of text it’s costing me a fortune.

I’ve come across a site called 'unlimited text' in the UK which says that for £3 per month I basically get all the text I want (if I have unlimited UK text with my mobile provider which I do).

It just seems to good to be true– has anyone any experience of using this site?

Also has anyone any ideas how else I can get cheap text to Ireland? Someone at work mentioned getting an Irish sim card but I couldn’t see how that would save money

Thanks for this

For £3 you can make 60 long calls from your mobile to their landline using inclusive minutes or get about 300 minutes if calling from a landline.
It is more costly for calling mobiles though.
    Do you really prefer texting?

Also, have a look at Martin's guide: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/free-text-messages

You could get a lycamobile payg sim where you can call Irish landlines for 1p per min or send a sms for only 2p calls to mobiles are not so cheap 19p per min but you do get 150 free mins when you top up £5 look on their website www lycamobile com and you need to get a Lyca Mobile Plus sim

    Hi Mineoneday

I did this research some time ago and found giffgaff to be the cheapest way to text other EU mobiles, assuming your phone is unlocked you can order a giffgaff sim card pop it in your phone, top up and away you go. Texts are 8p calls are 16p per min to mobiles to Ireland.

I found that they are also the cheapest PAYG network for the UK, just visit there site and get a free sim or if you go to giffgaffsims.co.uk and order through them you will also get £5 free when you register the sim..

    Hope this helps

    Good Luck

Buy cheap blackberries and msg each other through blackberry messenger. This is the only way to text cheaper.

THE cheapest way is to use Fishtext.

You do not need a smartphone to use it, although using it will use a minimal amount of mobile internet usage.

Most texts cost 1p, and can go as high as 1.3p!

You use the Fishtext app to send the text which can be donloaded to your phone, so long as it is capable of using mobile internet.
