in Credit cards
I may want to switch soon from Egg to Cap one.
I have 44% of my income in available credit amongst 3 credit cards but relatively low amount used as it's paid off in full monthly.
Would I have an issue getting another card with that 44%?
I have no late payments or defaults and plenty of history (6 open accounts, 16 settled).
I currently have
Egg (for cashback)
MBNA (hoping for a repeat 0% purchases deal)
Halifax Clarity (for foreign cash)
I could close MBNA which would take me down to 29% but recently they encouraged me to leave it open in the hope of repeat deals.
I have no current need for 0% purchase but it can be handy from time to time when timing cashflow for large purchases as I tend to not want to access ISAs and investments.

Sorry you've completely lost me ???
I just want to know what's generally regarded as the max (I know it will vary from lender to lender).
If it's too high I'll have to consider closing one down before opening another.0 -
Last time I applied for credit I had around 110% of my income in available credit (albeit little in use), and was still granted the BMI CC.Gone ... or have I?0

My last successful application was around 12 months ago (Santander Zero), and at that time I'd have had way over 100% of salary in available credit...around 70% of which was being used.
Recently declined the NatWest* 13 month purchase card, and was told by them that 85% available credit was their cut-off point for acceptance.
* They receive my salary, but it's moved out same day it arrives!0 -
Thanks guys.
Looks like I can keep the cards I have if I need to get Cap One.
Let's see what happens with Egg, but I don't like Barclays.0
