  • About the only hard bit my son had was to input the long security code for using the house wireless network, everything else worked out of the box.
  • when you boot it up for the first time, you get loads of options. if you have a hd tv and have the premium version with hd connections you may want to set the screen settings to 720p, unless you have a great huge state of the art tv capable of genuine 1080i.
and dont forget to switch the hd cable selecter to hd ( black box thing on the hd cable)

the instruction book is reasonably easy to understand.

internet wise, if you have a router then i dont know as i connected mine via the modem direct.

it takes a couple minutes to get the xbox live sorted as yoou need to put your emails address in and password and a couple other things, and doing it with a control pad is slow.

you get 1 month free to xbox live gold.

one thing i will say though, if you have a new xbox360 and try and update to the latest updates for yoour 360, it has been known to !!!!!! it up.

best leave the update for a while untill it is confirmed that there are no problems, it only affects 360's trying to update for the first time with the new november 1st update.

....don't forget to open your router ports if you have a firewall running. Details on the official xbox web site!

Yeah you often don't need to bother opening up any ports on your router. Mine works without the need to open any ports.

It's easy to setup, I wouldn't worry. Everything is very intuitive and straight forward.

The updates are definitely worth doing, I don't know about them being buggy. I believe there's one possibly out today (22nd), as the community surrounding the dvd firmware have been guessing what it'll include.

  • Hello, I've got a problem with the non-USB port on my 360. The modem I have with is a Voyager 105 USB. So I can't connect the modem to the 360 unless I buy another (wireless) modem - which I don't really want to. Is there a way around? All suggestions appreciated!
