Help - adoption

Hello MSE's.
This may not be the right place but was after a bit of help.
My partner wants to adopt my son :T - he sees him as his own and my/our son calls him dad and always has done. His bio father is deceased and therefore cannot contest this.
My question is, can any of bio fathers family throw a spanner in the works and stop the adoption?
Thanks for your help.

I can't imagine so (they may have an argument for retaining some contact) - How old is your son? Depending on his age they may well ask him - DH was 9 when his stepfather adopted him and he said he was asked (his argument is that he said he wanted to be adopted so he had the same surname as the dog so their logic isn't always the most sound but his wishes were listened to - and that was with a father alive)0

Hi
A similar situation happened with a friend of mine and it was all quite straight forward. My friend and her husband went to the court with her son, the court people had a quick chat with the boy (he was about 8 from memory) and it all went through althoguh I do think they had seen social workers etc. who had been round and talked to them all before the court date. She wasn't / isn't in contact with the bio fathers's family so I'm not sure that they were even informed. HTH x0 -
Hello and thanks for your replies.
His bio dad had never seen him, he left me (after a planned pregnancy) to get back with his ex.
His family don't have any contact - I just wondered if they would be informed. I have spoken to the local council adoption team and they have said that Social Workers etc will do a report.
Thanks again, help much appreciated.0
