bay window badly fitted - gap to outside

Hi
i'm decorating my living room (hence other post today!) and when I was about to caulk down the side of the window, I found a largish gap between the side of my bay window frame and the wall - you can see outside light through it
Looking from the outside, it looks like the putty stuff they have used to fit it has not been put over the gap and it looks badly done to me - even though i know nothing about windows, it doesnt look neat anyway!
I suppose the window is a bit small for the gap. Does anyone know if there is there anything i can buy to reseal the outside or should i be getting a professional in? If i did it myself would i be better removing the putty stuff 1st like you would if you were sealing around a bath?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks

If it's not too late, make sure that you don't get any of the foam on your hands. It's an absolute "b****r to get off.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
