Hi
In our constant home improvement we need to replace some light switches and plug sockets . I dont want to buy rubbish ones and have seen several makes in the screwfix catalogue including MK, Crabtree, Varilight and Volex. Does anyone have any info on which make is best, or is it all about looks
I'm off to buy them later so hopefully will be able to have a good look over them 1st in a shed before i buy them from somewhere else (!) but was hoping for a bit of a helping hand.
thanks.

Just last week we bought Crabtree platinum black nickel ones for the dining room. And yes, I paid over the odds at B&Q as I needed them quick, but they are much cheaper at screwfix.
The ones we got are 'screwless', so it made the decorating job much easier. They were not that difficult to fit, appart from not fitting easily into existing boxes/plasterwork, so ended up chiselling-replastering bits around.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
almost any of the branded ones are ok. i use MK and crabtree most often.
the unbranded ones are very hit and miss regarding quality.Get some gorm.0 -
thanks, that reassures me.
I think we will go for mk or crabtree, prob just the white ones as i have lots to buy and i'd like all the sockets to look the same in the house.
I was just worried about buying some and then finding they were rubbish and having to replace!0 -
MK are prob the best.0

Might also be worth looking at http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/ as they are good value and you might find them cheaper than screwfix0

great, i'll have to buy some stuff today, but that will be useful for future purchases.0 -
If you want everything to match then MK's white plastic range (Logic Plus) probably has the widest range of accessories.
Own brand ranges usually have only the more popular items in the range and you won't get a match if you want something a little more specialised. However some reputable suppliers' own brand ranges have 10 year guarantees and some would say are close to MK in quality and for a lot lower price.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
