Play.com Claiming to Have Given Refund

Hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble with Play.com... I've been shopping and selling (just games, dvds etc) through PlayTrade for years now and have never had trouble. However, I returned an item which did not work and they claimed to have given me a refund on 07 January. I didn't receive the refund and emailed, they claimed to have refunded the item. I phoned up and they said "Oh yeah, we haven't actually, we'll sort this out for you!".

I got an email on the 22 January claiming to be transferring the money to my PlayTrade account. By the middle of February, I hadn't received the money. I emailed once more and got the initial response. I phoned up again and got told head office would get in touch. They didn't. Phoned up again, they didn't get in touch. Again.

Now, I've spent about £4 on calls so far, and the refund is for £5.99 but it's the principle of the matter.

Now, I want the money back because the last thing I want to do is just let them have £5.99 of my money and keep it without having anything for it.

Any ideas of what I could do or threaten?

Thank you for your help.

Wow, what is up with that? Even though it's 5.99, it is wrong plain and simple. I think you should threaten them with legal action. Some may say it is taking things too far, but they shouldn't be able to get away with it. Send them an email saying you have contacted them multiple times about this issue and it has not been been resolved, so you are going to take legal action. that should shake them up a bit!
I usually buy little things from them, ranging from 3-5 pounds, but last week I bought a camera that i'm contemplating returning. I might not do so now if they're going to give me these problems!
