I want to make cheap daytime calls now I am signed up to talktalk. My suspicion is I cannot use 1899.com and default to TT at 6.5ppm + the talktalk fee!!. Does anyone know if I am correct and if there is a way round it or an alternative to 1899.com?

Welcome to the MSE forums Jmbo7.
The MSE UK CallChecker shows you how (column 3 shows it's via 1899's freephone gateway number, 0808 1 708 708).

If you mean 01/02/03 calls, they'll be 5p connection + 1p/minute that way.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks!
I will try that for my 01/02/03 calls!0
