Hey needtogetout how's it going?
If you want to pay back all the cards without doing a dmp then great - you've a battle ahead, looking at the figures, but you might be able to make it. Do keep considering it though - it's not a bad option for someone who is paying such high interest rates and such a huge chunk of their income to debt repayment. You may find that just getting the rates frozen and then paying a fixed amount each month which is paying back capital rather than letting them grow and grow in minimum repayments means that ultimately you pay things off quicker.
I think your next step is to make all the changes you've and others have suggested - get the extra hours, the second job, check child benefits and tax credits, see if your parents can make a contribution, etc etc.
Then sit down again, do your new SOA, and see if this time you have money left for overpaying!
oh, 2 further thoughts - 1) have you tried using the minimum repayments calculator on the site to see how long you are looking at without a DMP?
2) you haven't included your overdraft and its interest rates on your SOA.
Good luck!

I have heard mention about the snowball effect...can anyone post this as this may help needtogetout...
In realistic terms I think you will need to contact either CCCS and complete their online advice www.cccs.co.uk or National Debtline think its www.nationaldebtline.co.uk who could go through all your income and your expenditure and advise you realistically which is the better option for you.
Good luck for the future...:)Total debt £[STRIKE]37864.78 [/STRIKECOLOR=purple][STRIKE] £31681.03[/STRIKE] -£16700

you need to get rid of tv package too (use FREEview)
think you also need to reassess if you can ask for contribution to the mortgaged house abroad.
as mentioned above-info on overdraft needed.
good luck to you and your family0 -

Hiya,
as far as I'm aware, a DMP doesn't affect your job at all. It's an agreement between you and your creditors. It will affect your credit rating though. (so up to you whether getting out of debt easier is worth it!)
Yes, it's possible to spread the council tax. Do ask them.Debt Free and Proud!0 -
Been in a DMP does not affect your job unless you are in financial services, and even then if you get a County Court Judgement registered against you, then you can ask for it not to be shown on your credit file if it will have an adverse effect on your employment. But if you do not stick to that arrangement then it will be shown on your credit file.
Most employers these days are used to having people in debt situations as it is part and parcel of life these days.
You can spread council tax over 12 months and also if you request to spread the water rates over 10 months but our local authority will allow you to pay weekly which in effect reduces the amount down as you are paying over 52 weeks. Again this would depend on your local water authority but worth checking....also if you have arrears with them you can apply for a grant to help with the costs of the bill.

hi
thanks for all the support
i'll keep u posted on my situation
every month (SOA)
thx0 -
how old is your child if you don't mind me asking, as its normal practice in england (i'm assuming your from the uk?) that a child benefit claim pack is given in the hospital in whats called the bounty pack. BUT If your not British then I can understand why you wouldn't already be claiming it. Its great that you have now put a claim in though.0
