CityLink Couriers -a bit of a moan!

Just thought I'd have a little vent tonight after my experience with Citylink today !

I won an item from e bay which was to be delivered by courier
it arrived yesterday morning, along with another box which contained a digital coffee maker.

I wasn't expecting two items and said to the courier_ are they both form me, I'm not expecting two items -
Yep - both for you he said

I took both of the parcels in and sure enough my name and address was on BOTH items - I was a little confused, but I do voluntary work for a childrens charity and often people apply for raffle prizes for us and send them to me - so I opened to box looking for some clues.

The box did contain a digital coffee maker and I spotted that the sender of BOTH items was the same person/company that I had won the item from e bay from.

so I peel off the name label of the coffee maker box ( still with me? ;))
and I find a large label saying
Please deliver to;
Mr Brian W*****
Address
Gloucester
GL ** ***

so I surmise that the clever person at citylink has printed MY address label twice and put it on both parcels and NOT printed the correct label for Brian.

Being an honest person, I phone citylink and tell them and ask them to collect the item today and send it to the correct person.

I e mailed the e bayer and told them too so they could contact citylink

so today Citylink turn up to collect the parcel - now I am cynical and realise that I need some kind of paperwork to hang onto to prove I sent the parcel back with Citylink in case it goes walkabouts and the e bayer thinks I still have it.

Common sense thinks I :rotfl:

Enter Adrian the City link driver - who takes GREAT exception to me asking for proof of collection and offers to sign the paperwork he is taking back to his office to prove he has collected it ???? !!!!

I explain that the item does NOT belong to me, should never have been delivered to me, I have phoned 4 Citylink offices to track down the rightful owner in order to avoid Citylink being charged for losing the item and all I am asking for is proof of collection !

so he very charmingly (!) says " well if I don't take it, how you gonna get it to the owner? you'll need to take it yourself, we don't give receipts "

eventually he brings the paperwork ( for his office) to the door gets me to sign it after him and I just said " hang on , I need to photocopy this as a receipt " ( luckilly I have a copier for my work at home)

his face was a picture - he just stood there and said " it's not my fault I didn't deliver it wrong, I don't know why you're being so fussy"

He really couldn't comprehend that the reason I wanted a receipt was because they had already delivered it to the wrong place once, and I wasn't willing to take the risk of it going missing again, and me being chased by the owner for it!

sorry for the long rant- I was speechless at his attitude - he really got annoyed with me - I can see the funny side now - his face was so shocked when I said hang on I need to copy this !
bless him !;)

Good for you! Shame a lot more people arn't so responsible & thoughtful. :AA friend of ours runs his own business and a courier had a job to drop off & one to collect for the same customer. However, my friends company had already completed the job early and sent it back to the customer the previous day. The delivery driver refused to drop off the parcel until he had one to take back - even though the company that had sent it said it was OK. The delivery driver returned the next day with the parcel!!! My friend said he should have wrapped a brick up & given it to him:D

CitiLink arrived today to collect a faulty item, worth £150. The seller had sent me the same earlier and arranged a later collection of the faulty item.

I expected some kind of receipt or paperwork but I got nothing. I was expecting CitiLink and it was being returned to the right address so I figured it was OK.

After he left though I realised if it went missing I had no proof that I'd given the item to anyone and potentially I'd be asked to pay for it.
