Charity Ball in Surrey

My name James Worlidge and on the 17th of April, my best friend of over 9 years and I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of ‘Action Medical Research’. ‘Action Medical Research’, is a beautiful foundation which works incredibly hard to save and change the lives of babies and children. For almost 60 years they have contributed to some of the most significant medical breakthroughs in recent history beginning with the polio vaccine which has eradicated new cases of the disease in the UK.

We chose this charity because charities like 'Action Medical Research' are the reason why my friend is still here; when he was only a few months old he became very ill and had to be rushed to Hospital. It was found that his heart was failing due to a weak Aorta. Without charities such as 'Action Medical Research', hospitals would be extremely stretched to provide substantial medical research and he may not have been able to be treated as well as he was or if at all. I really can’t stress how important it is that these foundations are to changing and saving the lives of children and providing a better standard of life.

One way in which Chris and I are hoping to raise money for the amazing charity is an auction in which we are hoping for sponsorship and donations from businesses. The charity auction will be hosted at the East Horsley Village Hall on the 15 April 2011. We have also set up a variety of web pages showcasing the event, as well as potential adverts in a variety of newspaper. Some of the prizes that have already been donated are a signed Man United shirt and a day for 2 at The Royal Day Spa.
