Naming a Business

My husband is thinking of setting up his own business but we are struggling to think of a name.
He will be doing a variety of construction both external (garden) and internal (carpentry).

So do we go specific - eg AB Fencing

or

Generic eg AB Property or AB Construction

We don't want it to be too vague but also we are wondering if being too specific will limit business.

How much does it matter.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Why bother with the job description?

Just A B Dillence would be good and then (carpenter) afterwards. Gives him chance to diversify later.

What ever you decide, if he goes as a registered business, make sure you check the above site.
It's called Company House .gov .uk and it has a list of EVERY business name there is.
When on there click the middle option that says company search - WebCheck :)

    Good luck with the naming.

We've just registered ours Yorkshires Cleaning Services :D It makes you proud when you see it on there :D

    Inside Out Carpentry?

Maybe too gimmicky. I think you definitely need to list EVERYTHING he can and will do, if not in the name then as a list of bullet points underneath on your business cards etc.

    :D

This will only list limited companies, not sole traders or partnerships that aren't.
