I hope i have got this right and hope you can follow:
I will be going on the EDF's standard rate end of March. So,i have used the usual comparison sites using the standard tariff from EDF and there are MANY better deals(none of them with EDF)
Ok,so i looked at EDF's tariffs and saw online version 8 which seems competitive so out of interest i entered that one into the comp.sites and guess what? NOBODY could beat that tariff.
So,my question is:If EDF online v8 is so good why did it not show up when i entered the standard tariff initially. In other words, call me a cynic, but theses sites are not being honest and will show false results to tempt you to switch.
Surely when i entered the 'standard' tariff for comparison then the online version 8 should have appeared as a best buy,as was proved on my second search that it cant be beaten?

It is strange and I don't know the full answer.
I tried three different sites with my consumption details. Two of them didn't show EDF's online tariffs.Energy Helpline showed EDf's OS9 dual fuel high up.
On the other two sites, when I selected the option of all possible tariffs, (rather than those available today/online switch) they both showed EDF OS9 high up.
So might it be that OS9 has superceded OS8, but they haven't fully arranged the switching detail? Or because you are already with EDF, EDF don't want to pay commision to the Comparison sites so you have to go direct to that tariff?
Funny though that OS8 still appears on the EDF Save today save tommorrow website.
Premier is good at these comparison things,he should be along soon to clear it up.0 -
Surely on line9 has superceeded on line8 and the latter is not available?0

The comparison sites (well uSwitch at least) was advised that EDF OS8 was withdrawn and replaced by EDF OS9 just over a week ago
