On 28th Feb 2011 i changed my mind and cancelled the policy by calling their help line, The Telephone Customer Servicer Officer refer me to contact my Local SWINTON Branch in London for further proceeding , I visited the local branch and the branch sales advisor told me i have to paid 50.00 GBP for CANCELELATION charges for the subject policy which still not started even i could not find my policy document on the date.
Its mentioned that i can cancell the policy within 14 days cooling off period , but i had informed well in advance to the SWINTON but they charged me the documentation charges,

Hi, the companies always say that you dont have a cooling off period, but you do have a 7 day cooling off period by law.
I abused this system when I first passed, and had insurance for 3 months doing it. got bored then stopped.
as long as you havent made a claim they have to give you the money back. Sales Of Goods and services Act 1982 shall make them aware.0 -
Ignore the above. (Swinton actually give you a 14 day cooling off period)
Check your policy and you will find their cancellation conditions which you agreed, so apart from seeing if they will drop the charges they want as a goodwill gesture you got to grin and pay up:What you will be charged if you cancel your insurance
1) Within the 'cooling off' period
If you cancel your insurance, before the end of the 'cooling off' period, you will be charged by the insurer for the service they have provided up to the point of cancellation. We will also make a cancellation charge of £50. Our New Policy Inception or Policy Renewal service charge and any credit card handling charge made for arranging your insurance will not be refunded.0 -
Swinton have had a charge for cancellation for ages. Its published on their website and it will be on the terms of agreement you agreed to when you purchased it.
There are plenty of reasons not to use Swinton and issues they have but in this case they have done nothing wrong and you are not entitled to recover any money.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
