  • Hi, A bit late in catching this topic. My experiences with Anglian have not given me any confidence in the way they operate. A 3 hr visit quoting £17,000 then gradually reducing the amount, together with phonecalls to the 'office' resulted in a final quote of £4250 !!!!! To ensure this amount I was asked to sign that day.Outrageous. I got a couple of quotes from local suppliers & have recently had a very satisfactory job done for sensible money. Always get at least 3 quotes & go on recommendation. Good luck.

I had to Google "itinerants" as I honestly didn't know what it meant :o
    Perfect use of word though!

    Hi there

Has anyone had recent quotes for replacement with UPVC for fascias, roof trims, guttering and soffits?

We're in a 3 bed semi so there is one side and front and back that needs doing. Anglian have been around but my husband got called away suddenly with work and they refused to quote me (I imagine because you need 2 people to sign a finance agreement, having worked in sales myself!) They measured up and are waiting for me to make an appointment.

I am dreading getting several companies around to quote as I know it's sensible but the thought of spending my evenings with salesmen isn't great . The guy from Anglian wouldn't give me any indication - are we talking 1k, 2k, 3k ???

Any advice would be very welcome and gratefully received!

  • Any good builders in Leeds that can do a top job for a good price?
  • Just been quoted £9000 for a three bed semi with 28.5m of facials soffits and bargeboards
  • We've just been quoted £1500 for fascia, soffits & guttering for a 3 bed semi. Due to the brickwork on the house no end plates or angled sections up the roof are needed, its literally 7metre straight line from and back. Went online and the materials including the bird preventative section that's sits over the top, downpipes and all the odds and sods comes to £350-£400.

Best of it was, as part of the sales pitch he gave step by step instructions of what they do, so I'm tempted to give it a go myself. We'll only be in the house another 2-3yrs so its more for improving the visuals for a future sale than our own benefit.
  • Hello,

What site did you get all the parts please, unless someone can reccommend a site.

Re-opening an old post. I was recently quoted £1500 (detached in Surrey) to 'patch up' soffits, paint them, repoint the chimney, replace two tiles and clear gutters and repair three brackets.

Two turned up for three hours and sanded the front of the house with a proper sander. Then we didn't hear or see them for at least two weeks. Three then suddenly reappeared with sandpaper and started on the back plus painting 3/4 of the house. The painting on the front looks fine, but I can still see flaky bits under the paint in the back. Also, I'm not sure what I should be looking for with regard to a good repointing job on the chimney. The chimney, sanding and painting bit took 4 hours.

They turned up again today saying they would be back to finish off and it would take about a day, but to me it looks like there is still a lot to do (they haven't even started on the guttering yet). Am I worrying for nothing? It seems a lot of money considering nothing is really being replaced.
