M&s sale

My friend works at M and S. Heard really bad stuff- they are stingy about sale stock, and won't let employees buy any of it themselves. I used to like M and S, but the times I have been in more recent years, I have had really bad experiences. And none of the staff ever seem happy either.
When I bought some items in the final clearance sale in January the lady in front of me in the q was M&S staff. She was buying greatly reduced sale stock, but she wasn't on duty, so maybe that's the difference.0 -

Can only buy on breaks or when you aren't working. We're worked into the ground, no staff are ever replaced and you are constantly pressured about giving service...can't really give service when you are strapped to a till because they won't hire anyone else for your department.
Next time you see a stressed M&S assistant, please give them a smile, it is MUCH appreciated!!!!Dooyoo £10.40/40, TopCashBack £17.19/30, Valued Opinions 50p/£10, Swagbucks 0/£20, Ebay £15/£250 -

As can everyone else who works!! No matter where you work things can only be purchased when off or on break. Not sure why you would be expecting to be paid to go shopping.
Hope its a good sale.0 -

I generally found the M&S assistants lovely when I did my sale shopping, especially at Camberley. There were 2 exceptions in Reading who accused me of putting sale stickers on the items myself (which I would never do) and were really rude and nasty.0 -
You ought to console yourself with the fact that at least you have a job and are not having to worry too much about how to pay your next heating bill and mortgage when your only income is a state pension.0

I think what was meant was that staff do not get preferential treatment during the sale to put stuff by. I may have misunderstood though?0 -

Of course I'm grateful for a job. Times are hard for everyone. I'm a graduate who can't find work in my field and I work in retail to make ends meet. Doesn't mean anyone has to love it.
Noone expects to be able to shop at work, the point is that customers think that sale gets stashed for staff which is so far from the truth its unreal.Dooyoo £10.40/40, TopCashBack £17.19/30, Valued Opinions 50p/£10, Swagbucks 0/£20, Ebay £15/£250
