Your as mad as my sister :rotfl:

Why spend £10 - £30+ when £15 will cure the problem?

And your spelling is as bad as my sister's.

Thanks for your reply jimmym. I'll see how it goes, but appreciate your input and will consider it if need be.

    Wheels refitted. Looking good.

Why did she not just goto europarts and buy a £60 battery?

If we're talking batteries, why not spend £15 for one from a scrap yard that is likely to last at least 2 years

    VM,
Did Halfords still have the offer on?

Not online, Wig; but I didn't check in-store. I've got one reasonably close though if I go that route.

Hopefully now, the track pump will suffice for the ocassional top-up!

There is a Continental-branded 12v compressor with my car, instead of a spare.

I had a slow puncture, and it inflated the tyre quite quickly and with a bit of extra pressure to give me time to drive to the nearest tyre place.

I was quite surprised at how good the compressor was, having always thought the 12v ones were only for air beds.

The tyre fitter said a lot of the 12v compressors do a decent job these days.

Brother has one from Halfords, which he said worked well enough the one time he used it.

It's not that common for an alloy to be porous.
Usually they corrode, and the bead doen't seat properly.
I paid a tenner each to get the tyres off my (old) alloys, then I took them home, filed all the scabby bits off the rim, wire brushed, then sanded them down. The area round the valve was crusty as well. Took them back with new tyres, they put them on, new valve, balanced, they've been fine since.
