My DD had her first DSi at Christmas and she will be six in 3 weeks. She has:
Mario Party
Super Mario Bros
Princess Peach
Barbie and the Three Muskateers
Nintendogs
Cooking Mama (brilliant)
Gardening Mama (for her birthday coming up)
Lets Draw!
Zhu Zhu Pets
Her favs are the Mario ones, Princess Peach and Lets Draw.. even though some say aged 3, they are hard so best to check out the reviews, say on Amazon and Argos.
PS: thanks to who suggested the Faraway Tree interactive books, FAB!! I used to love those as a child so think I may have to get my DD those for her birthday too.0 -
We wouldn't be without ours! I've had one for years, DD had hers for her 5th birthday, and DS has been using mine, which he's now inherited since I got a DSi XL for christmas. I don't really like them playing more than half an hour at a stretch, although they don't play alot in the house, they tend to be more useful if we're out and about, perhaps somewhere where there's a bit of waiting around or something. If either of them have got activities on such as swimming, gym, etc... and the other has to sit with me to wait for them, then it's great for that sort of thing. I don't advocate them going goggle-eyed with it, but everything in moderation!
The games they've got vary from Mario Kart, Super Mario bros, sonic, star wars, cooking mama, gardening mama, Hello Kitty, Barbie, etc.... and they'll have a play of just about anything on there.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I enjoyed playing Super Mario Bros, so wouldn't mind one myself.

Someone recommended Professor Layton and yes I do agree that these mysteries are brilliant - but not for a 7 year old. My oldest will attempt some of the puzzles and has done so for about a year - he's just 12.0

My 2 have both got the ds lites and they ;love them, they are 8 and 4. All the games that have been suggested are great. Mine have the R4 cards on them so we download the games and the cartridge holds about 50 games I will be getting ym oldest the newer ds when it comes out tho as he was wore the screen out on his lol0

I think my DD was about 6 when she got her DS lite - she still uses it regularly, and it still goes on trips/holidays with us, and she's nearly 10 (occasionally I have a go on it too

I have just passed my DSi on to my 6 1/2 year old (as it was sitting doing nothing most of the time) & she in turn has passed on her Leapster2 on to her little sister who is 4 this month. The DSi is a real hit. We have let her take hers into her room to play in the morning if she wakes up early, she knows it is not for when she goes to bed!0

My DS got a DS Lite for christmas (second hand), I paid £40 and it was as good as new, it had barely been played with since the little boy was bought a dsi and didn't use it.
I bought an R4 card too and have got lots of games on there, Super Mario, Spiderman and Peppa Pig have been firm favourites so far.0 -
my daughter has had one since she was around 5 and loves it! also was just about to mention about a r4 card they are fab you just download the games online and put them on the card yourself so fab money saving

My two have had a DS (and before that a Gameboy) each for years. Think they must have been about 4 or 5 when first got them?
Fantastic for keeping them entertained whilst waiting around, as someone else said, but unfortunately my two can't use them in the car as it makes them travel sick. Shame!! That was one place I was hoping they would use them!
Mario brother games are great, but we have got a wide selection. Prof Layton good for adults!
Don't be afraid to get pre owned games - we have never had a problem with them.0
