Selling My Car can I give buyer credit

    Skint, with a young family, but he still has a Galaxy S mobile.

    I suppose that's the definition of poverty these days.

    Having said that, you are selling him a car, not financial advice.

    If he looks a deserving case, I would let him have the car.

    I would issue a short invoice, making it clear ownership transferred on the date the £300 was paid, just to avoid any problems with speeding or parking tickets.

    No point in taking the phone as security, he will either pay the balance or he won't.

    Suggest he sells his phone, pays you the full price now and in a couple of weeks when he has the extra £200 he can buy himself another phone :-)

    The phone will almost certainly be on contract, so not his to sell/give away.

    Not strictly true ... you are free to sell a contract phone whenever you like. If you miss payments, SOME phones can be blocked, or the phone company can take other action to reclaim the contract value.
