In need of help with rent deposit

Hi there
We are looking to private rent a 3 bedroomed property.
Despite my 2 daughters and myself being a respectable and hard working family, we will require housing benefit to help fund the rent.
It is a shame so many landlords stereotype against this - we are reliable tenants despite the need for assistance.
However, before we even tackle the "no DSS" stereotype - we need help getting together a deposit. We really cannot get together such a large amount of money so soon. However, our need to move is becoming quite urgent.
Our council does not offer a rent deposit scheme. Therefore, I ask if anyone has any help/suggestions about getting help towards rent deposits?
Thank you very much everyone.

Occasionally (er,, very occasionally..) local charities may help. CaB or a Shelter office (if there is a very local one
http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/advice_services_directory/?pc=Postcode+or+town
) may be able to point you at one.
Otherwise (I'm really not trying to be rude but trying to be helpful..) follow the shed-loads of advice on this site about saving money and/or work longer/get another job (you & kids if they are old enough) and save up.
Beware the dodgy agents & landlords who (sometimes) prey on "DSS"/HB-LHA tenants with sub-standard properties & high rents...
Hope it works out, best wishes...,0 -
Hi ya, I'm looking at loadsa rental properties on Rightmove etc at the mo, and have come across a handful of Letting Agents who accept a security bond (somehow linked to an contents insurance policy connected to Endsleigh if I remember rightly) It's not something I'm looking for personally (as we've got our deposit) so apologies these details are so vague, but I remember clicking on a link to a website called tenantdeposit.com to look into it a bit further. It was a while ago that I looked, but I'm sure they're some sort of 'no deposit specific Letting Agent.' No idea about their service though, but might be worth a read?
Hope that helps? x0 -
