Income support advice please

Hi Guys,

Can someone let me know what the lone parent rate is for income support. I have 2 boys aged 8 and 5. Also is it currently paid till youngest child is 7. I thought at one stage it was only till they turned 5 but friends say it is still 7 years for now.

Thanks for any advice

It's £65 something pence, I got a letter recently that's saying it's going up to £67 something in April. Currently it's still 7 but from December (from what I've read I was told October by the lone parent adviser) it's going down to 5.

The extra money for the children is made up through tax credits instead of IS like it used to.

    Store Card: £100 October 2011 :o

So does that mean that extra money will go onto tax credits from December? Sorry to be thick I find all this so confusing

No if you were applying for IS now, when the award comes through call tax credits and let them know they will amend your award, for a single child I get around £45 per week, not sure how much you would get for 3 though sorry.

So your money would all be put up immediately after informing them of your change, I hope I'm making sense.

Nothing will happen regarding IS until your youngest is 5 in which you'll be changed over to JSA providing none of your children are disabled and you're able to work.

Forgot to add your IS is paid seperately every fortnight and tax credits can be paid either weekly or 4 weekly depending on what you choose.
