No bank details sent to Experian

I used a Credit Expert trial to find out my credit score in November 2010 and found it was just under 700 , which is not very good, but also there were no defaults, CCJ’s etc on my record. I only use a Debit Card, and have no outstanding debt (except my agreed overdraft)
When I went to cancel the trial, I spoke to Credit Expert advisor saying I could not understand why it scored so low. HE checked my record and advised that they had no details of a bank account on their records. He said that the bank was meant to supply these details.
I called my branch (RBS Coatbridge) in early December advising them that no bank details had been sent to Experian, Equifax, etc. They said they would investigate and get back to me. It is now March 2010 and I have had no feedback from the bank

My concern is that because these details were never sent that my Credit history has been seriously impaired.
Can I lodge a complaint agents the bank for compensation and demand that they send these bank details to the credit agencies

If you opened the account before 2000, it wont show on your credit report

Guess where Credit Expert should get their credit scores from? Out of thin air. At least they would be more accurate. The fact of the matter is that each lender will have their own credit criteria, and they do not just go by a randomly generated score.

As jen245 correctly stated some accounts may not have been reported due to old data protection laws; http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score

Finally financial organisations do not have to report to all three CRAs, so you need to have a look at your Equifax and Callcredit files. RBS tend to use Equifax in my experience.

As Zppp has already stated RBS dont report to experian they report to equifax.

Also the bank is also not obliged to report such information.

  • Thanks for all your replies.

With royalties gold I have under their " Identity Theft Protection" benefit an option for a complimentary credit report which allows you to view your credit history and any potentially fraudulent credit applications. Ill see what this comes back with

Wrong - my RBS current account shows on my Experian report.

The missing account is more likely to be because the account was opened before RBS started obtaining customer consent to share data in this way, as others have suggested.

In my experience, most banks can accept your consent retrospectively. I'd give your bank a call and chase your original query.

It will certainly help your credit rating if you can get the account on there, assuming you've managed it within the terms of your agreement.

Thats may be in your case however not all customer accounts report to experian. Most of them report to equifax depending when they was opened.

Plus non of my rbs group account reports to experian and if they aint going to submit the information for a member of staff I cant see them doing it for a customer.

My Natwest account shows on both experian and equifax, although oddly, my overdraft limit only shows on experian not equifax
