No Claims Bonus - HELP

Hi,
I passed my test on 19/03/2010 and had a car ready for me to insure. I insured this car with Swinton and continued to drive it for 6 months. I then bought a better car due to the previous one having many repair problems and it was costing me a lot of money to repair. I rang my insurance company to give them the details of my new car and they continued to supply me insurance but the premium was going to go up. I could afford the premium so agreed to continue with them. At the end of this month I will have been driving for a year and have 1 years ncb or so I thought.
I rang my insurance company and they said as I had changed car and started a new insurance policy I would have to wait until sept this year (1 year of owning my new car) til I have a years no claims bonus. Is this correct?

It will be correct if you did indeed start a new policy last September.
If that is correct (check your paperwork), then no NCD would have been earned on the policy started in March 2010 and cancelled in September 2010.0
