No they can't. I take it this is your first new car? OK, basically dealers order them from the manufacturer. They don't keep a stock of them and manufacturers don't keep large stocks of each individual model, just the ones that sell the most. The manufacturer gives them an estimated manufacturing and delivery date and this is all the dealer has to go on. For whatever reason there is sometimes a hold up.

No don't worry its quite common for them not to turn up on time. Although that was short notice. You have your pin the cars on order its just late.

    be wary of their excuses.

my grandad had this problem last year with his focus through motab.. they said it'd be guaranteed march 1st delivery, yet end of feb they said it had been delayed as the factory had a back log and that it wasn't in the country yet. my grandad told me to call up and say he's cancelling if it's not ready on march 1st and as if by magic he called me back saying it was actually in a compound 10 miles away and would be ready.. and it was.

to be fair there could be a genuine delay with yours what with you ordering it 2 weeks ago, but as i say just be wary, especially if he calls again and delays it further.

and they can't refuse you it, once you pick a car motability will have to authorise it before the order can be placed. Since you were supposed to be picking it up on the 1st, i'd give motability a quick call about your pin. probably just a delay in the post though! enjoy you're new car when you get it :)
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Could it not be though, that Ford then decided to give that car to your grandfather, and had to ring another customer and say "sorry, but your car has been delayed..."

Leaving aside the Motability involvement, the supply of some new cars is uncertain.

For example, a Ford dealer told me there would be no S-Max or Galaxys for up to four months because of new models.

He also volunteered the information that several would-be 'March 1' customers were having to wait until later in the month for their cars.
