Eviction Notice from Landlord

We have just been issued a notice from the Landlord to vacate the property we are renting at the end of the tennancy agreement. Now he has done this is it within our rights to vacate the property earlier than the end of the tennancy agreement, without paying for the full term?

No, it isn't. You can only surrender the tenancy early if your landlord agrees to it.0

In a word, no - you are still obligated to pay rent until the end of the term (but, of course, you can move out whenever you like).0

I thought as much, just tought there may be a clause if we find alternative accomodation prior to the end of the term he would have to let us finish early, but i guess that wishfull thinking. thanks guys.0

Do speak with your LL though to see if they would be willing to negotiate. SOME LLs will as it's in their interests as evicting you through the courts would be expensive and time consuming.
Having said that my last one wanted whole month's rent for 3 days and refused to pro-rata it. Hurt to pay that one
If you are on any HB/LHA it may be possible to claim in respect of two properties when there is an overlap. There are conditions.
Do you know why the LL wants the property back ?Inside this body lays one of a skinny woman
but I can usually shut her up with chocolate!
When I thank a post in a thread I've not posted in,
it means that I agree with that post and have nothing further to add.

Unfortunately it is wishful thinking: that's why it's called an Assured Shorthold Tenancy aka a fixed-term agreement. The landlord is assured of the rent and you're assured of the right to remain in the property for the duration of the agreement. Has the landlord offered any reason why they are seeking to end it?0

No harm in asking, he may be glad to get it back early.0

Assuming there has been no trouble with you or any missed payments that may make him want you out I agree with others. If the LL is keen enough to get the property back that his is going to issue notice on a tenant then he may be happy to get it back even earlier than aniticipated0

I agree with the above so I'd also speak to the landlord if I were you. And if you get nowhere then perhaps you can just mention the above re: that it would take the landlord much longer to evict you through the courts and be expensive and time consuming. Which the landlord presumably wouldn't want! If your only wanting to leave say a week or 2 early or even perhaps a month early? Ask.
It's worth a shot! Don't ask you won't know.0
