Hi
I am moving house and have loads of bits and bobs to get rid of so I am going to do a carboot on Sunday. I haven't done one before and have got some geat advice re how to do it.
Lots of threads advise visiting car boots before but I don't have time. I live in Manchester - there is the Bowlers indoor car boot which runs all year round, and this weekend is also the first car boot of the year at the Barton site near the Trafford centre- any advice on which would be better?
Any general advice also appreciated
Thanks

I actually been to the Bowlers indoor car boot the Sunday just gone. Maybe it was the weather, it was raining, so there didn't seem to have a lot of stuff. Got there at about 8am, already saw people leaving - buyers can only get in from 7:30.
People there mostly sold clothes and books. But I suppose it depends on the sellers, it could be different every week.
I didn't manage to get anything really good and I left before 9. But as I was leaving there were loads of cars trying to get in, so I think there are quite a lot of potential buyers.
As regards to the one near Trafford Centre, I have never been so can't give any opinion.
Just out of interest, what sort of bits and bobs are you trying to get rid of?0 -
We go to Bowlers a lot, and we always find it much better than other boot sales. The weather on Sundays was terrible, so the outside sellers were packing up as we got there but we found loads of bargains inside! Last time we had a pitch there selling toys, clothes, books, DVDs and general household stuff we made nearly £200 before midday.
Good luck wherever you go, and thanks for the heads up RE BartonPaying off CC in 2011 £2100/£1692

ok thanks. If the weather looks good might try barton then as its the first one of the year. I have got lots of...well all sorts, old books, some clothes, some tools, some garden stuff, some kitchen stuff. Typical house clearence type stuff really.0

thanks very much for the advise. Seems like bowlers is quite well known so if there is dodgy weather I'll try there.0

went to Bowlers today and had an outdoor pitch. Have made just over £70 in profit. Kept a few good bits back which are currently on ebay so will hopefully make over £100 in total which is great and will pay for the van hire to move house with which is perfect :T0

also thought it would be worth a mention on what sold/didn't:
sold well - household/diy stuff; electricals (but not kitchen); toiletries; toys; curtains
sold badly - clothes (just couldn't shift them); old videos (no surprise); general household ornemants
Any advice on where to sell old clothes - decent high street but not designer brands0
